Chair lift in the clouds
Fog all around, pines below.
Archery
A surprise stop on the hill.
Mall Road
The classic Murree evening.
Not every trip needs a passport. This one was a road trip from Faisalabad to Murree with my cousins, and it's one of the most fun days on the channel.
Up into the hills
We drove from Faisalabad up the winding roads into the cool Murree air. The first proper stop was Bariyan, where we climbed uphill and found an archery stall. A few rounds each, and a lot of laughing.
The Pindi Point chair lift
The highlight was the Pindi Point chair lift. The day we went, fog had rolled in, and the lift floated straight through the clouds, with the pine trees appearing and disappearing below us. If you get a foggy day, don't skip it. It's better than clear weather.
Mall Road
We finished on Mall Road, Murree's famous walking street, with tea and snacks.
Tips
- Avoid weekends and holidays if you can. Traffic in Murree gets very heavy.
- Take a jacket, even in summer.
- Go early for the chair lift before queues build up.
- From Islamabad it's an easy day trip; from Faisalabad, start early.

Questions people ask
Is the Pindi Point chair lift worth it in fog?
For Hafiz Tayyab, the fog made it better: the lift floats through the clouds above the pine forest.
Can you do Murree as a day trip from Faisalabad?
It's a long day by road, but doable. Islamabad and Rawalpindi are much closer.
